Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney wedding - Celebrity Weddings |
Who: Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney
When: May 9, 2005
Where: The couple said "I do" in an outdoor ceremony on the island of St. John in the Virgin Islands.
Pre-wedding festivities: Illuminated by the glow of tiki torches, family and friends sipped margaritas at Rhumb Lines restaurantin the small St. John town of Cruz Bay, then dined on typical Caribbean fare at Woody's Seafood Saloon.
The Ceremony: Renee Zellweger's portrayal of the loyal yet lovelorn secretary in Jerry Maguire inspired singer Kenny Chesney to put pen to paper for what turned out to be one of the biggest country music hits of 1999, "You Had Me From Hello." Little did he realize that six years later he would be standing next to his muse, pledging his love in a 15-minute ceremony at his holiday abode on St. John. Forty-five guests were on hand to witness the exchange of vows, which were presided over by a female minister.
The Dress: Whether walking the red carpet for a movie premiere or accepting an Academy Award, Renee Zellweger has always relied on the refined silhouettes created by Carolina Herrera, so it came as no surprise that the actress chose an ivory, strapless gown with body-conscious contouring fashioned by her favorite designer, who only had a few days to concoct the dress. Continuing the look of simple elegance, the bride carried a small bouquet of pale roses.
The barefoot groom, in keeping with the relaxed atmosphere, wore his trademark black Stetson along with a white, untucked shirt, which was paired with dove grey trousers.
The Reception: A small get together was held in the garden of the groom's home in Peter Bay, where guests sampled delicacies from a buffet.
